What about Dialysis experience before an NP program? Also what is better, an IMC unit, Med Surg or ICU for experience needed before NP school? Also what would be the best 2 years of experience b/f applying to an FNP program? Thanks

It depends on what you want to do with your NP.

I work in nephrology now as an APN but had never stepped foot in a dialysis unit prior to this job. However, they liked my ER experience and ability to handle emergencies...my nursing exp is level one trauma center.

What type of NP are you doing? That might help us to suggest where to work.

Not doing NP yet in another 1.5 years but want to do FNP currently working in an intermediate unit and med surg. Thanks
