Hello, I am an Adult and Geriatric Primary Care NP. I am also working on my PMHNP post-master's certification. I do not want to live in Seattle. Hoping to get some suggestions on cities/towns that need NPs. I am looking for a smaller town or city that is affordable and that needs NPs. I am okay with a rural area, if it is within 30 miles of a decent size town/city (10,000 to 250,000 population).

I'd like to bump this. I live in Texas (lifelong TX resident), am working on my PMHNP degree, and was curious about Washington state. I know that there's full autonomy in WA. How's the market? Is the pay better than in Texas?

FullGlass - eastern and central WA tend to be much more affordable than the Seattle area, and have high need for NPs. Larger cities are: Spokane (metro of 500K+), Tri-Cities (~300K), Yakima (200K+). If you prefer the climate of western WA, get away from the Greater Seattle-Tacoma-Olympia corridor for more affordable cost of living. Some of the towns on the Peninsula are dirt-cheap to buy property, but it can also be very rural with out many amenities.

Naturally Brilliant - PMHNP market is variable; I see more jobs posted in Seattle area, but cost of living is much better in other parts of the state. Not sure how pay compares to Texas.
