nurse to patient ratio

I am curious, what is the nurse to patient ratio in the medical surgical unit in Indiana? Does anybody know the state or federal regulations regarding this issue? Thank you.

Indiana doesn't appear to have any legislation on the books that addresses this. HERE is a link to the latest update on state mandates from ANA. As you can see, CA is the only state with legally mandated ratios.

The state famous for nurse to patient ratios is California. Other states mostly allow hospitals to staff units as they can. Im not familiar with Indiana. In NY some have reasonable ratios...others do not due to staffing issues and budget. Contact your state's Board of Nursing for the most up to date information.
