Yes, plenty of midwife jobs involve shift work on Labor & Delivery, usually either 12 or 24 hours, rather than taking call from home. There are also plenty of 9-5 office jobs, although if you decide that's what you want to do, becoming a WHNP would probably make more sense. Depending on where you live, you may have to move to find one of these jobs, but they're out there.

Hello! I am in nursing school right now, but my main goal would be to be a cerified nursr midwife. The only thing is (and its a big one) is that i would not like the inconsistency of the working hours, as babies are born 24/7. Is it possible that there are any positions that would have me just be in the office and do the 9-5 thing, or just a 12 hours shift at a hospital somewhere. Im just curious, thanks in advance for any help!
