Nurse Managers Interview Help

Hello everyone. I am writing a paper where I am required to interview a nurse manager and really need help. If there are any managers willing to answer the questions I would be forever grateful.

1. What is your scope of responsibility? What department do you manage?

2. How many employees directly report to you?

3. What is your total operational budget?

4. What is your organizations mission, vision and values (not from the company website but how you interpret them)?

5. How do you meet staffing requirements?

6. What are you and your organization doing to recruit and retain employees?

An anonymous website isn't the best resource for your assignment. You have no way of knowing if anyone who responds in a nurse manager or even a nurse. What other sources have you tried? There are many out there, such as the DON of the local nursing home, the nurse manager of the unit where you are doing clinicals, the local public health office, the possibilities are endless.

This post provides an explanation of why anonymous message boards aren't the best place to conduct interviews and some insight into the hidden purposes of the assignment as well as some other resources you can try.

This seems to be a common assignment, and I have to say, it has got to be the most annoying assignment ever. The local nurse managers must get so sick of students banging on their door begging for an interview. Don't the instructors think the local nurse managers are busy enough? I am starting a RN-BSN program next fall, and I hope and pray I never get this assignment. I hate inconveniencing others to get my homework done.

I feel for you OP. Good luck.

OK, end rant.
