  1. Hello everyone. I am writing a paper where I am required to interview a nurse manager and really need help. If there are any managers willing to answer the questions I would be forever grateful. 1. What is your scope of responsibility? What department do you manage? 2. How many employees directly report to you? 3. What is your total operational budget? 4. What is your organizations mission, vision and values (not from the company website but how you interpret them)? 5. How do you meet staffing requirements? 6. What are you and your organization doing to recruit and retain employees?
  2. Well this morning I took the NCLEX-RN at 8am. I was there for about 2 hrs when the test shut off at 75 questions. I remember sitting there thinking "Please let this test keep going because if it shuts off at 75 then I know I failed!" So needless to say when it shut off at 75 I was shaking. I managed to make it out to my car and do the pearson vue trick...good pop up! Even though I am somewhat relieved that I got the pop up I won't really believe it until I see pass. Anyway I wanted to let everyone know how I prepared. I was an A-B student all throughout nursing school and got a 99% probability of passing NCLEX per ATI. I however kept studying after the my last day of class which was 2 weeks ago. The only things I used were Mary Ann Hogan (Pearson reviews and rationales 2nd ed) and NCLEX 3500 (online and free). Hogan was my main source and the reason is because it was much harder than ATI. I did all the test online several times and when I took the comprehensive test a couple days ago I got a 75% and Hogan recommends 80%. As far as NCLEX...It is hard to describe. I felt the questions were pretty straight forward and it was easy to determine what they were asking, but the answers were difficult. I had zero confidence throughout that test! There were a whole lot of priority questions and I recommend you practice those type of questions. I had a variety of questions...probably 10 select all, couple of exhibits, 2 dosage calc, a few drag and drops. The covered pretty much everything. My best advice though is to read the rationales on the questions you get right and the incorrect ones. You need to understand why it is a certain way...that is something you just can't memorize. Best of luck everyone!
  3. I am OFFICIALLY DONE with my ADN program as of tomorrow 09/16 and what I recommend to all students is to start PRACTICING nclex questions now. I believe this helped me succeed because critical thinking is not easy for some. There are many great apps for phones out there. I have used ATI and several others. Also as soon as you start struggling talk to your instructors! Waiting until there is no way to turn your grade around is insane. I wish you the best of luck on your journey. It will be super stressful but worth it.
