Does anyone know if the federal gov or JCAHO has established educational or experience requirements for directors of nursing or chief nursing officers? Does the title make a difference? Does the type of facility make a difference? Thanks for any help.

If the hospital is Magnet status or working to become Magnet, then there are specific education requirements. For the CNO they must have a BSN and a Master's degree (though the Master's does not have to be in Nursing)
