Confused...according to the information I saw (hope this is incorrect), the Governor of Michigan just vetoed Michigan's Nurse Licensure Compact bill. No other state governor has done this. Many of them have actually created their own NLC bills ( Alaska and Massachusetts come to mind). Anyone have any information about this?
Did a little research and it appears that the Michigan branch of the ANA supports the Nurse Licensure Compact (Michigan HB 4042), but the Democrats in the Michigan State Legislature (including the governor) do not. Suggest that if you are a Michigan nurse and you want compact status that you write to your state legislator and the governor to show your support. 34 states are members of the compact, and more will be joining soon. States that aren't in the compact will have a harder time getting travel nurses. Many new grads are choosing to only live in compact states. The need to have multiple state nursing licenses is slowly disappearing.
It appears there is no update. Michigan joining the license compact is currently dead in the water.

So happy to see that the Nurse Licensure Compact just passed in Michigan; the bill is now waiting for the Governor's signature. To all of our Michigan nurses:
Welcome to the compact! ???
