Nurse from Israel

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hey everyone!

This is my first post, so I hope that Im writing it at the right place!

I have a few questions and I really hope that I could get some help here, because I read a few posts and the responses seemed to be very practical and helpfull.

I'm a nurse from Israel. I have been planning for quite a long while already to move to the U.S and live in Oregon, because I love nature. I have an American B.A degree from University of New England. I'm 26 and have a 5 year experience as a nurse. So my questions are:

1. I heard that each state has different requirements for education and licensure examinations. What are the requirements in Oregon, NCLEX , CGFNS, both?

2.Will my nusing B.A degree be valid in Oregon, although I got it from other state?

3.I'm allergic to latex, are there any job opportunities for a person like me, currently I'm working in the community (vaccinations and developement examinations of children)

4. I've just found out on your site that many people have allergies in Oregon, as I had atopic dermatitis all my life, is there any chance to find a place to live in Oregon or a place with nature and hiking like Oregon, which is not allergenic?!

Thank you for your help!:p

Hi and welcome to the site

Are you already in the US with a valid work visa? If not then I suggest you check out the International forum as currently the US is under retrogression and will take years to get a visa to work. If you check the BON (board of nursing) website that should tell you everything you need to know on what the requirements are for a foreign trained nurse. Would also suggest you read the sticky in the International forum called Primer to working in the USA
