Anyone heard of the nurse integration program for Quebec in Canada? How does this work?
hi. i just signed up here. i am a filipino nurse, i graduated in 2009 and i have 1 year hospital experience. i've attended several orientations sponsored by consultancy agencies here in our province. after all their sugar-coated explanations and instructions, i nearly signed their contract. but i told myself to sleep it over first and search the net about this process, thinking that maybe i could do it on my own, (without the help of an agency, to cut the cost). after going through my research, i made myself and my colleague believe that we could actually make it happen, ON OUR OWN. i have contacted this college in montreal thru phonecall and they have been a great help in giving me instructions to process my application in quebec. according to the oiiq, their next program for students would be jan2012 and their cut-off date for the application papers would be on the 15th of november, i really want to make it before jan2012. i just don't know how to acquire the application kit from the oiiq, their website's difficult to understand since the medium is french. i would really appreciate it if someone would help me go about this process. i would be very happy if we could exchange emails, to speed-up the process. thank you very much in advance. :)
There is no way on this earth that you would be able to get the application package, fulfill all the requirements and be ready to do anything before January 2012. The process takes at least 4 months and usually much more.
You have to request the application for registration from OIIQ directly. Yes, their website is in French; if you want to live and work there you will have to get used to that because all official business in Quebec is conducted in French and their language laws prohibit the use of English for most situations. There are parts of the OIIQ website that have been translated to English, mostly the ones addressed at IENs. Look for them. Be prepared for heavy-duty scrutiny of your education and experience. Also be prepared to write a university-level French language exam along the same lines as the IELTS or CELBAN, but French within a certain time after having your application accepted. Another thing to consider... you wll meet with a degree of intolerance that isn't typically seen outside of Quebec.
well, this consultancy agency in our province tells us otherwise. they guaranteed us that we could step foot in quebec in 3-months time, as long as we complete our requirements and prepare for the show-money. but as i went through my research i wonder how on earth would they make it possible if the waiting time for you to acquire the application letter from the oiiq takes 3-4 months? then you still have lots of stuff to accomplish like the credentials and visa application. most likely, one really more needs time than that, right?
i have already requested for the application letter from the oiiq thru email, i've been copying every phrase from their site and translating it online to understand the process easier. in fact, it did great help. by the way, how much would it cost to submit my requirements to the oiiq? i appreciate your help, bigtime. thank you.

yeah, it doesn't really get processed that easily... We're on the same boat, i just emailed them for the application packet. Google chrome has an app that translates french to english with just a click :)... As posted you'll need about CAD600+ for the application and assessment by the OIIQ... :)
Consultancy agencies are only in business for one reason, and that's to take your money. They make a lot of promises that cannot be kept just to get your interest. Then when they've gotten you well and truly hooked, the excuses begin to roll out. They'll give you a dozen reasons why things are taking longer than they promised and in the end when nothing has gone the way they said it would, they'll remind you that there really were no guarantees of anything other than they'd do the legwork for you. Which they've done. So pay up! Anything that sounds too good to be true IS!
