Hello Everybody!
I am currently a nursing student (ADN), and I have a computer science degree and was a computer network technician in my country of origin. I recently read about nursing informatics and I really liked it because I can combine between my first specialty and my passion ( nursing), so my question is will my degree in computer science and a BSN be enough to get a job as a nurse informatic? if not what do I need to do?
Thank you all!

You will likely need a few years of working as a nurse before you qualify. It is a pretty sought after position in healthcare facilities. You will likely be competing with experienced/senior nurses. Best of luck.
I'm actually planning to work for couple years as a nurse before considering that position. I just don't want to miss any opportunity if there is a potential to work as a nurse informatic and want to be well informed about that position. Thank you!

Work as a nurse, get your BSN and in the mean time, volunteer to be your unit's expert on the EHR, make contacts, there are lots of free webinars for many of the informatics nursing associations, you can get student memberships. Learn about nursing and find a way to get your foot in the door working with the Informatics people where you work. I am finishing my Masters in Informatics and I am on the EPIC super-user group, out nursing informatics council, I am one of the unit experts, I do chart audits. Make yourself a part of it so when you are ready, you will be what they want.
