Hey there,
my name is Jill and I moved from Germany to the U.S 6 months ago.
I just received my Greencard, therefore I would like to get my nursing degree acknowledged to be able to work as an RN on Long Island.
I hope to find people, who went through this whole process and give me some directions and advice. I have my transcripts already translated, but I am confused about what step to make first.
As I went online to find some directions, I couldn't really get an overview. Too much information...
I would appreciate, if there is somebody who could give me some advice.
I am good with whatever you guys can offer :)
I am also okay with private messages.
Thank you in advance!

If you plan on working in NY then you need to go to CGFNS website and complete application for CVS This is the process required by the NY BON for all International Educated Nurses (IEN) Once you have started the application with them they are responsible to obtain all relevant documents and the process can take anywhere from 6-8 months. At some stage you need to submit application form to NY BON as per their website and when they match your application to the CGFNS information they will make a decision on whether you meet requirements and can sit NCLEX. Only once you have the eligibility to sit the exam do you register with Pearsonvue and they will send you your ATT which allows you to set a date.
