I was just curious if any of you out there know anyone, or are someone, who is making the transition from being a Nurse to becoming a Doctor?
I wondered what the process is? Do you get any credit of classes or experience towards medical school, or do you just begin the whole process from the beginning?
Do many people do this?
Many thanks!

You have to do 4 years of med school just like anyone else. Nursing and medicine are totally different professions anyway. You may also have to take several courses to be accepted into medical school, as many classes that are required pre-reqs like physics and o-chem are not part of many nursing programs. In addition, you will need to take the MCAT and score at least a 25 for admission to DO schools or 30 for admission to MD schools. You also need to have a really high GPA (above a 3.6 at least).

Hopegirl,
Go to http://www.studentdoctor.net and go to their Nursing boards. You will find threads that discuss nurses going to medical school. Interesting subject.

I had a clinical professor tell me about a new program in Canada that is RN to MD. You go through their program and if you want to come back to the US you just have to take boards over here. That is all I remember about it. Sorry I don't know more
