NURSE Corps Scholarship for AGACNP

I have been admitted to a direct-entry nurse practitioner program. Specifically, an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care program. The program is a top-tier brick and mortar school and very costly. I'm looking into several ways of paying for the program and will probably settle for loans if neither NHSC nor NURSE Corps will work. My main question is whether or not a nurse practitioner working in acute care, as an AGACNP normally would, would qualify for the service aspect of the scholarship. I have read through the terms and I can't find anything specifying working in primary care, but the language used seems to suggest that primary care is required. Any insight into if/how an AGACNP would qualify for either of these programs would be appreciated.

I won a Nurse Corps Scholarship for AGNP primary care. I believe these are for primary care. I don't know about NHSC. You can check with your school, as they can tell you more about these programs. In addition, check to see if there are other school scholarships you would be eligible for. Most states also have state level scholarships for NPs. There are also loan repayment programs from Nurse Corps, NHSC, and at the state level that you can apply for after you graduate, if you work in an underserved area. Good luck.

Hi! I am looking into applying for the nurse corps scholarship for adult NP and was wondering if you’d be willing to share any tips for applying!

Hi I was wondering if you ever found out the answer to this? I am wondering whether to accept acute care or primary care schooling depending on what the scholarship will possibly cover!

Go to the Nurse Corps scholarship website.  All the info is there.  Ask your academic advisor at school for advice, as well.

Check with your state to see if they offer an equivalent scholarship.  Many states offer this.

The internet is your friend - do the research.
