Nurses General Nursing

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

Are you going to try doing it manually or wait for the system? Also have you applied for this program before or is this your first time as well.

Yes i had applied before but i have more loans now due to returning to school. I am going to wait for the system as long as i can before i enter manually. I just tried it again on my Dell and still getting having the same issue. Entering manually will be horrible!! But i just want to finish the application and be done.

Agreed, I hear the sooner you get it in the better good luck to you keep us updated on your application.

I am still not able to transfer my loans directly from the NSLDS, is anyone having this issue? I have now tried every browser Safari, chrome, internet Explorer, firefox... If no one else is having the issue I will assume it is an issue for me only ugg, entering them manually will be difficult. Tech support is not much help, they suggested I wait because the server might be busy but I have tried 100 times over 3 days, they suggested a different browser which I have. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong once I hit the access your loans button? Then Log into your source? Is there anything I need to do on the NSLDS site?

It sounds like it must be an issues with the NSLDS site, If I were you I would just go through the trouble of uploading your loans manually for now it might be a pain but time is of the essence and the longer you wait for the site your loans could have already been uploaded. Then maybe later you can try the automatic transfer either way I wouldn't wait on them to correct the issue.

I applied for 2016. My school loan debt to income ratio isn't that high....actually it is pretty low but regardless I am hoping to get the award. I have other financial obligations in my life and this payment doubles every few years so it would really help me and my family. My hospital has a score of 20. After reading the past blogs my hopes have deteriorated substantially. Let me know if anyone gets awarded that isn't in a ridiculous debt to income ratio. I'm below 30%.

Well your facilities score is pretty high so hopefully that still puts you in the running for an award keep us updated, this waiting process is going to be horrible

Also are you a NP, faculty nurse, etc. I read that half of the awards goes to NP's 20 percent goes to faculty nurses and the remaining goes to the other nurses I have my BSN which puts me in the 30 percent category so I'm nervous about that.

Does anyone know if you are in tier 1 and you have a high D/I ratio and the facility score is high, which comes first preferably for funding? MY facility score is a 20. I was wondering if my D/I ratio isn't as high as some other tier 1 applicants (even though it's above 100%), but my facility score is higher if there is still a possibility?

I believe it goes by what other applicants D/I and facilities score is, for example if someone had a facility score of 22 and D/I ratio of 189% they would get funded before you so it's not about which one takes preference over the other in regards to D/I and facility score. Are you an NP? I know that half of the funding is reserved for them that would make your chances greater.

No, I'm an RN. I guess we will see what happens. I can't submit my application until my work finishes my employment verification. The waiting game seems like it can be 8 months or so

Which is such a long wait this is going to be a grueling process but I saw in previous blogs that people were notified as early as May if they were awarded.
