Taos and Santa Fe hospitals

Nurses Relations

Hi everyone, I have been looking into hospitals in Taos, NM for 1 year experience RN opportunities. I almost moved there in 2003 and sometimes regret not having done so. I can't find much info on Taos' hospitals aside from glassdoor. I am pretty familiar with the town and the expense of it, but would like to know more about the hospitals. Taos is my #1, but I'd like to hear about Santa Fe as well.

There are Indian Healh hospitals and clinics in both towns. I have loved working for IHS. Good federal job.

The Santa Fe hospital was taken over by Christus Corp. some years ago, is no longer a small community hospital. Some changes for the better, some for the worse, like anywhere it has it's ups and downs. Recently started requiring all staff to be in color-coded uniforms, so the ER is no longer is scrubs. Pay is okay, bennies are expensive. Staffing is less than stellar. Level 3 trauma center, so referrals come in from all of Northern NM and southern CO. New wing being built, will have only private rooms in the next few months.

Housing in Santa Fe is very expensive, many employees commute, some from over 60 miles away.

Presbyterian Hospitals is building one in Santa Fe, don't know when it will open.
