Thank you for the responses but actually I was asking if it will still count as experience for getting a job as a CNA in a hospital setting. I know that if I get my foot in the door at the hospital I want to work for (even as a CNA) after becoming an RN I would have preference for the new grad RN program. I just don't know if they would even bother looking at my application if the facility I work for is considered "non-medical." I have enough hours and I will have all my ceu's when I need to renew. I just want to make sure I am doing picking the right place for employment.

So for the last two months I have been working as a NOC shift CNA at a skilled nursing facility. It has been a great experience because I have worked with those that are there for rehabilitation to long term care. Also I have had to learn how to work with those that have C-diff, MRSA, and other highly contagious infections. I am a full time student and the NOC shift is really affecting my ability to learn, so due to this I am leaving to work in a facility that I can work am's and they will give me Fridays nights and Saturday mornings off because I have a 4 hour class Saturday mornings. The thing is that this facility is non medical and it is for residents that have dementia. My question is that if after a year or a little more when I am ready to move into an acute setting will this still count as experience??? Currently I have the title of CNA and make $2 more than at the new job. At the new job I will have a caregiver title. Sorry so lengthy I wanted to give all the details I could.
