NTC Wausau Nursing Program?

Published

Hi all!

Does anyone know what is going on at NTC and how long it "really takes" to get into the program. Right now I am being told 2 years. I was also told they had 400 some applicants and when they made the call to the 50 students to get in, only 3 showed up. Is two years common??

Thanks all! :D

Hello- I will be going into the 4th semester of NTC's ADN program this fall. I know when I was on the wait list, it only took a year, though I was told 2. I also know that NTC isn't doing a true wait list any more, they have changed to a petition process. If you have all of the pre-reqs met, you can petition at any time. I have heard that they will be reducing the number of students they take into the program beginning this fall, but that may be just a rumor...

Good luck to you!

Hi all. I am looking to move to the Medford/Rib Lake area and would like to transfer to NTC Wausau. I was told that I may not be able to do that due to a strict policy they have on being in their district. Is this true? If so, what is considered their district? If anything does anyone know of a different tech school with the nursing program closer to that area. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you!!

Unfortunately, yes. Right now all of the WI tech schools have waits of close to 2 years. I did not have to wait that long, but several did. In the mean time, you can take some of the pre-reqs. In addition, did you know that once you are in the WI tech school system you can take classes at any WI tech school? You just have to pay the admission fee.

I finished my 4th semester in a "non traditional" way: Took my last med-surg class from Lakeshore Tech, and took my management class from NTC, all on-line. I did this during the summer prior to my final semester, because I still needed to work full time. I then was able to take my final clinical and preceptorship in the fall through my 'regular' school--CVTC in Eau Claire.

I graduated in 12/08, and so the requirements may have changed. I know CVTC has changed how they do admissions, as has WITC. Good luck!

I don't know if they can do this, just based on location. I would press this issue. If you look at "their district" on the map:

http://www.wtcsystem.edu/colleges.htm Medford/Rib Lake looks like it would be in their area. I mean, Medford is less than what, 40 minutes from Wausau, right?

PS: I had a very good friend who lived in Edgar, and her DH was from Medford.

Thank you,

I will check into it more and make sure to press the issue. I am willing to commute. It is just closer than driving to Eau Claire where I am currently going now.

What are these "prereqs" I see mentioned here? I graduated from one of Wisconsin's technical colleges (SWTC) and there where no college class prereqs. You had to have CPR & CNA before you could get into the program. Is that what you guys are talking about?

I took Complex Health 1 last summer through NTC Wausau--it was about the ONLY school in the state to accept a non-NTC student into a class!

Not sure, but I think they are talking about getting the psych classes, sociology, A&P and Micro out of the way. Ones that you can take without having to be enrolled IN the nursing program
