NSLIJ PICU Fellowship 2014

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi! So NSLIJ just posted the PICU Fellowship a couple of days ago and I wanted to see if anyone else has applied for it. If so have you heard anything from them? Also would love some advice from anyone who had applied for this position in the past. How long did it take to get an interview and how was the interview process. Thanks!

I have also applied and haven't heard anything yet but hopefully soon

Anyone hear anything yet?

Nope, still playing this waiting game.....which is so annoying and frustrating! It would be nice to just know if ur going to be accepted or rejected. I called again and same they can not give any info on application status, blah, blah,...so like I say here's to hopeing!

Any estimates as to when openings for the next fellowship will be? I missed this one :(

Hey, Nessa0387...how is everything on ur end? Did u hear anything yet? Any info would be great..Thanks

Hi SuperwomenRN,

Everything is going great on my end. I didn't hear anything from the fellowship, but I did get offered a position in a NYC hospital in their NICU!!! So happy to be starting my nursing career in my dream unit! I haven't heard of anyone getting an interview with the fellowship so maybe they are still going through the applications. Stay positive! It's still early considering the fellowship starts in August. Keep me posted

That is GREAT! Yes Nessa0387, Yes  loool ! You did it, I am happy for you plus ur dream unit. That makes me feel positive that it can happen for me, as long as I stay focus and don't give....b/c there were some frustrating days I went through not understanding this terrible NY job market. Also, thank for the words of encouragement to " stay positive" plus ok..now I understand I did not know that this thing started in August, thought it was July. Can i ask, how did u found out it starts in August? Even though I applied other places too, I just really hope they call b/c this would be my dream unit. All the best and success to u

I forgot to say also applause to you, on proving ANYBODY CAN DO IT AD OR BSN NURSES. I know some AD nurses who received job offers before BSN, and some BSN before AD. The main thing is ambition, never giving up, keeping your eyes on the prize ; which is getting into a professional career and a brighter future by putting in applications. Something everyone work hard to accomplish in nursing school AD or BSN nurses. I have a BSN and it is just as difficult for me to land a job in NYC, anyway soooooo happy for you Nessa0387, RN you did it! Nothing can stop you now!

Thank you!! I definitely understand those frustrating days. There were times where I was like what is wrong with my resume/cover letter?? I did so much during school, internships, volunteered...why wasn't I getting any calls. My friends were great about snapping me out of it, telling me to keep positive and stay focused. We are all new grad nurses so there were many coffee shop interventions when one of us was getting down lol. The job market is tough but keep applying and stay determined and when you are selected for an interview blow them away with your passion for the unit!! As far as the fellowship I remember seeing when I applied that the position started in August, but you can probably call HR to confirm. Thank you again, and let me know how you job search goes!!:D

Wow congrats on getting a job at an NYC hospital! I'm another person who has been struggling to land a job as a RN. I originally had an ADN, and recently graduated with my BSN. I am hoping to find something soon. You give me hope!

On another note, I wanted to ask who you guys addressed your cover letter to for you NSLIJ profile? I only ask because I want to be able to apply to several different NSLIJ hospitals, so how do you know who to address your cover letter to specifically? I would greatly appreciate if someone could PM me with this info (if you don't wish to post it here). Thank you in advance!!

Any updates? I still haven't heard anything

I heard people were getting calls for the 3rd interview, the ppl i know that have been getting called applied for the adult icu fellowships. I haven't heard of anyone being called for the 3rd interview for the picu fellowship. Has anyone heard of someone that got the call for the picu 3rd interview?
