Ok, so I just brought the 5 weeks session of Ncsbn (a nurse at my job failed her boards 3 times and she said it really helped her) and I'm doing the questions and they seem really easy. I also have the Saunder's Q &A book 4th edition and they seem pretty straightforward as well. My question is---> Is NCLEX this straight forward??? I can't afford Kaplan, thats out of the question.. but to the people who have taken NCLEX what do you feel helped you the most or was similar to the questions. Some people swear by Kaplan and some people say its a waste of money, same with NCSBN.. IM SOOOOO CONFUSED!!! I have to pass please give my some input!!!
Oh I also forgot to say that I'm doing NCLEX 3500 and bombing it for the most part, nothing better than 64-69%...

I used NCSBN, Saunders 4th Edition, (especially the CD that came with it), Lippincott's new Alternative Format book and website, some NCLEX 4000 (not too much, though, cause I started finding errors), and LaCharity Prioritization and Delegation, and the mneumonics for infection control from the Random Fact Throwing thread. Made sure I knew basic drug classes. For me the NCSBN, Lippincott and LaCharity questions had more of a feel for the actual NCLEX. I did read the new Kaplan book, it was somewhat helpful, but not indispensable. The Saunders book has really good "how to pass" section.....loved the info on NOT reading into the questions. Hope this helps.

hey there! i did hear that the NCSBN is the one that writes the NCLEX, so that 5 week course might be a good thing. I'm actually going to use that program when I receive my ATT.( was looking at the 3 week for 50 bucks) Some employess pay for the Kaplan, you could ask and see if they offer that.
Kaplan also offers some free seminars and I heard their book "Strategies to Passing the NCLEX 2010" is also a good prep book. Its about 35 bucks at borders. Check out the Kaplan website.
I do plan on taking the Kaplan, but again was advised to take the course when I have my test date.
Good luck to you and your studying, and I hope this info helps you

p.s. I am getting between 60%- 68% on the NCLEX 3500 and I'm only practicing with 75 questions for right now. I will bump it up around July

The important thing is to learn the concepts, then you will be able to answer questions no matter how they are worded.
Caliotter.....I think you're absolutely right. It really is all about application....THAT is what it feels like is being tested.....Can I take what I've learned from school and the seven jillion questions I've answered and apply it. Ya GOTTA know the content.
Hey Guys,
That's what I thought too.. thanks for your input!!!
I think I'm just freaking out as I get closer to my date!!
