NSC SUMMER 2016

Published

Hello everyone! I started this post to see if there are any other hopefuls for Nevada State College's 2016, full-time summer nursing program? I originally was only going to apply for the part-time program and work full-time at the same time, but then an email went out stating they were NOT having a part-time summer program this year. Instead, they decided to try a full-time program in 4 consecutive semesters beginning in summer 2016-summer 2017. I was told they are only admitting 32 students. I figured if I could get my degree in 15 months versus 30 months it was worth a try.

If there are any other hopefuls, or current NSC nursing students I would love to hear your feedback about the program!

Hello, there. We have moved your thread over to our Nursing schools & Programs forum. We wish you the very best of luck and hope that you are granted admission.

Hi,

I also applied to the 2016 summer track after finding out that they moved the part time to Fall. I originally wanted to do the part time summer track as I have a full time job. However, I decided to apply for the summer since its only a 15 month program (thought might as well). If I get into the program I will quit my job and do full time schooling. I heard there were around 90 applicants, so I'm kind of nervous. Also, the tuition is around $6000 per semester (not including books). The classes account for around 36 hours a week (a one 12hr clinical day is included within those hours), so having a job while in the program will be extremely hard. Hopefully we find out this week whether we got in or not, best of luck.

K1kristin I just saw your post. I got my letter that I was accepted!!! I talked to the nursing adviser and she said that the tuition is around $17,500. I am very nervous, at excited at the same time. Not too sure about the books and equipment we will need. I hope you got in as well!

Hi there! I was accepted also! I hope to see you around! -Meridith

What's your teas score if you don't mind me asking? I got a teas score of 66% and a GPA of 3.66 do you know if I have a chance?

Hi,

I think my teas score was 67% (without studying lol) with a 3.9 GPA and I was accepted into the Summer cohort. As long as you got above 57% on yours TEAs and a decent GPA (3.0) you should get accepted fairly easy.

Thankyou! Did you finish all your pre requisites when you applied? Congrats btw!

Thanks! I was taking patho and CHS 421 when I applied. I'm currently in my third semester of the program, so if you have any more questions just let me know and I'll be happy to answer.

Thanks for responding! If Roseman doesn't work out for me then I will apply to NSC. They put my applciation on hold due to low teas score but I will retake next month and see if I can bump it up.

Hi Kristin so for the summer track it's only 15 months? And for spring/fall offer both full time and part time correct? How many hours are you usually in school?

Yes, Summer track is 15 months, however, I know that we were their "trail run" so I'm not too sure if they are doing another 15 month Summer track this year... Spring and Fall has both part time and full time. The amount of class hours depends on what semester you're in. First semester for full time students spend around 36 hours a week, which includes a one 12 hour clinical day. Second and third semester the hours decrease to about 25-28 hours/week, which then includes 2 clinical days/week (the amount of hours in clinical changes and depends on the class). Hope this helps!
