NSC hopefuls

Who will be attending NSC in the Fall ? I just got accepted to the Part time track. I'm excited but worried it will take me forever to reach my dream. For students in the program now, is it possible to switch over to a different track (the regular) the following semester once you are in ?

No one shoots up from P/T to regular, they all go the opposite way. Don't take p/t as being punishment, it gives you a lot more opportunity to do more things than what you could ever expect. Even though you go through the summer/winter sessions it still gives you two vital things which are: time to work and time to wait out the economy.

New graduate jobs are not what we like to call plentiful at the moment in this great country. Unless you have plans on going military post-graduation or going right into a master program you might be looking at a year before getting your first job.

So...Once you finish fundamentals, go take the C.N.A exam, and find a jobby job and get your foot in and as time progresses try to find a Nurse Apprentice Position (aka NAP).

good luck and congratulations.

Thanks puravidal, you made a great point:)

Gabby... Congrats on being accepted:up: It looks as if we will be classmates in the part time track at NSC! At first I was as well a little bummed about the length of the program but then I looked at the positives of it. I will be able to keep my job and make a little extra money, I will have a social life, and not have the feeling of being stressed out or overwhelmed everyday. I feel as though I should be extremely grateful on getting into a nursing program right now when it seems to be quickly becoming very competitive!!! Are you planning on going to school after obtaining your BSN?

Hi Sundevil, Yeah, congrats to you too :yeah:Yeah, its becoming pretty competitive especially the other tracks. I've heard some positive things about the part time track so i'm excited to start. I'm moving from Reno and hoping i will be able to find a job down there and also one that will accommodate the school schedule. Are you in healthcare already ? Yes, after the BSN i would like to try for Nurse Practitioner and also teach. What about you ?

It was great meeting you yesterday! What did you think of orientation? Did you enjoy it? I am very excited to start in August! I was wondering, do you know exactly when we will be done with the whole program? I was very confused because on the website it says a 2 and a half year program but it seems as it will be longer and we will finish a year after the regular track. Is that correct?

Hello again Sundevil13, yeah, it was great meeting you too:) It was nice to put a face to the name. So much information from orientation but now I'm even more excited to begin. Everyone was so nice and It was a very positive and encouraging orientation. Some former UNLV students commented on how different it was for them during their orientation. Couldn't find our pics on the NSC site. I wonder if they'll put it up soon. I stayed the whole time to do the Drug test since i wasn't sure there was a Quest facility in Reno. Didn't get out of there until after 3. From what i know, our track will be done in May 2014. I'm going to try to send you an email.
