Hello All,
I am a nursing student applying for new grad RN positions at the moment. Since I would like to go into L&D, NICU, or postpartum I am doing the NRP certification. I completed the online 7th edition and had already signed up for the skills at the place near my house. Unfortunately, I just realized that the skills is 6th edition. Now I am in a pickle. I emailed Health Stream and they said they are NOT interchangeable and I have to find a 7th edition skills or take the 6th exam. Should I take the online 6th edition test? Or should I wait, probably a month (nothing near me is for awhile) to take the 7th edition test even though it now will not be on my resume for two of my applications?
I am also having an issue with looking up the 7th edition tests since the closest one near me shows through Healthstream that I can sign up for this Saturday but online they say they are full but then in November they still have a few spots online but Healthstream will not let me register for it (it does not exist!). Would they do some 6th and some 7th edition tests and that's why it wouldn't show up on Healthstream?

There are supposedly big differences between 6 and 7. My hospital will certify you after they hire you. You just have to get it within 6 months. You could always let them know you are in the process of getting your NRP and sitting for the practicum on xxx date.

You might want to expand your search for a 7th edition skills check off as I believe you are limited to 30 days after testing to complete the skills evaluation.

I'm doing it right now, and I read that it's 90 days.
Thank you.
Apparently it was increased to 90 days for the 7th edition, however it remains 30 days for the 6th edition.
