I've only been a nurse for just over a year. I've already worked as a floor nurse in acute care, nurse manager at a SNF, and floor nurse in a level I ER (Which I liked the best).
You've done all that in a year?
Seems like you may change your mind a lot. Nothing wrong with that, but just be sure that you weigh all of your options before you make a decision.
You seem to be leaning more towards floor nursing. If you want to get floor experience before becoming an NP, I think it will provide you with invaluable experience. However, it may be more difficult to complete an NP program once you have a family. Studying and working to support your family will take time away from your children. It is a hard sacrifice.
Good luck in your decision. We're here to offer support in whatever you choose to do.

I'm working through my NP program (about 9 credits in) and I really don't know if it's what I want to do right now. I'm trying to have a baby and I think floor nursing is more flexible. Also, I have an interview at the biggest hospital in my area (Level I trauma) and if I got this job I would be "IN" especially in this crazy hiring freeze. I wouldn't be able to continue school if I take the job so I guess I'm just looking for advice. Thanks.
