NP Fellowship program at Emory Hospital Atlanta

Published

Hi,

Has anyone gone through the fellowship program at Emory for NPs? How was it and is it worth it? I'm a new grad NP and considering looking into it.

CONGRATS !
Which program are you doing ? There are so many programs at emory ? There’s a critical Care NP/PA, a heme/onc fellowship, and some others ..

Thank you!! Heme/onc, we had an oncology concentration in my program so I was able to leverage some of that coursework/didactic content in the interview process for sure. I only recently discovered they also had a critical care one. I've heard pretty good things about Emory's nursing/medical schools and the hospital so far. I'm not sure what your impression is though or what your experiences have been with the hospital? The only bummer in my opinion is that APRNs cannot prescribe controlled substances because that's a huge part of oncology. That's alright though. Maybe things will change soon.

It’s been good. I prescribe controlled substances but am able to do that because I’m under the critical care center. I hope that you enjoy your fellowship. Your salary is definitely higher than Critical Care ?

Oh good, I'm glad you're enjoying it! You would think they would standardize salaries. That's strange. My classmate cited a salary for this same program of 45k in 2019 so it's possible it was increased in the past year. I hope being under the umbrella of the hospital modifies some of those GA laws with regards to CT/MRI ordering as well. Any tips about preparation for a fellowship in general or advice about the adjusting to the area? Anything you're really liking about the hospital or not liking? I'm coming from the Northeast and have never been to Atlanta.
