Now a tele floor from med/surg

Hello All, 

I work as a charge nurse on a 40 bed med/surg one side and tele on another side. A few months ago we were told that the med surg nurses now have to take telemetry patients. Our ratiois 1:5. Of course some tele pts come w/ the drips. Is it normal for 5 patients with a drip? Also the med/surg nurses have been given no education. Is there any education anywhere to help with the tele?
