Now I'm not so sure

I am planning on getting my LPN, But in an earlier post I asked if I could get a job as one or if I would need my RN first. Truthfully, I'd like to get my LPN first so i can spend less time in school (and move back out of my parents house!) start working, avoid pre-reqs,and get my feet wet..see if I really think this is what I want to do. It seemed as though an LPN was satisfactory, but the more I hear people talk, the more concerned I am..

You could do some prereqs that apply for both the RN and LVN programs. That's what I did. I took the A&P that was required for RN school (shorter class for LVN's), did my general education and when I hit a speed bump in terms of getting into micro (only one 35 seat class in the fall, no spring class at all!) I applied to LVN program rather than wait around to take my chance at micro a year later.

I did the LVN program, graduated, started working while taking micro, took a semester off from school completely and applied to the RN program. I got in for August 2006 and will finish in a year. Basically it took me one year to get my behind back in school. Like Tweety said, it's important you don't stall too long when it comes to going back to school.

I did the LPN thing. The wait was shorter. So I figured I would do that and get my prereqs out of the way and get to work sooner all at the same time. I am getting such great experience as an LPN right now, I figure it can only help me when I get into my bridge program (I start in August) and when I take the nclex-rn.

it sounds like it's a quicker route for you and something you want to do, go for it! And while your working you can knock those prereqs out and get onto a waitlist to a bridge program.
