Just wondering if anyone out there will be going to the Reserve OBLC in November. My roomate, a friend, and I all applied for that date and would like to talk to others who are going through the process to make sure we're getting everything done that we need to before November rolls around.

I should be commissioning for the reserves here shortly (waiting on congress or something??) november would be ideal for me to go to oblc...crossing my fingers

The whoel commissioning process took my 15 months. I think I only had to wait about a month after board approval for the senate confirmation. Good luck, let me know if you get in the November class.

nmosterhaus,

Just put in my request for the Nov date today. Tried to put it in at the SFRR in March, but my medical needed to be updated. Do you have orders yet?

Got orders for the November OBLC!!! I put in for my change in status from Reserves to Active...so we'll see how that November class stands...Still excited about things moving forward!!! Graduated last week and was told today that the switch in service won't be as painful as my initial commission packet...Let's just hope!!!

I'm in a holding pattern now again as I found out my physical was expired and needs to be updated before they will put in me in a class. I was originally told that it just needed to be updated before OBC started. I have it scheduled for next week though so maybe I'll still be able to get in the November class. How long were you drilling before putting in the request to go active? I've been thinking about doing that but am also considering moving from Miami in the next few months so it may be a bit before I pursue that.

I did my physical in May at the SFRR and it didn't get uploaded into the system until a few wks ago. Once I found out my physical was green I called my training officer and he got my request right in. It was about another week before I got my letter stating that I had a class reservation. I haven't been drilling at all. I've been in the STRAP program since my commissioning in January. If you want to go active why don't you just wait to move and do it when you get your first duty assignment?!?!?! In May there are 100 reserved slots for the November OBLC and there were zero taken at that time. He showed me the other classes and even the ones that were before November weren't full, so you shouldn't have a problem. Good luck!!!

I just found out some painful news. Apparently I have to go through the whole board process AGAIN. The next board isn't until October. I can't believe this. I've already gone through the board process and have been commissioned since January. Now I find out I have to do it again with 5 fresh letters of recommendation and a new letter of motivation just to switch from a Reserve status to an Active status. I know that doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is. It took 10 months the first time and hearing about everyone's long experiences with the Active board I'm just very disappointed.:crying2: All I want is to be an Active duty nurse in the Army and get on with it already.:uhoh3:

While I know that the Reserves and the Active sides of the house operate like two separate entities within the same organization, that DOES seem like a bit of overkill.

Hang in there.

Carolinapooh,

May I please ask you a few questions regarding your experiences? I don't know if it was you or someone else, but someone said that they had to go through the boarding process and people without prior experience were chosen before them. My recruiter keeps telling me to chill out, but having to go through this all over again is somewhat depressing. As I said before, it took 10 mo for me to get commissioned and now to have to wait until October and go up against everyone that has been waiting for almost a year has me concerned. My recruiter said that everyone goes by category, meaning med/surg, psych, ob/gyn, CRNA, critical care, emergency, and so on...10 categories to be exact. He said that I would be going into the 66HM5. How long once your packet went to the board did it take for you to get your OBLC and first duty assignment? I'm slotted to go to OBLC in Nov with the Reserves. I'm assuming that I won't hear anything by November as to whether I've been accepted for active duty, so why not just go to OBLC when I have the chance?!?! Any information that will settle my stomach would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a quick question. I am just starting the reserves process, and I am wondering, how many weeks long is the OBLC for nurse reservists?
