NOVA Southeastern University NP Programs

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone!

I applied to the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Program at NOVA for Fall 2020 and got in already. I have not seen a thread for this, so I'm starting one. I'm curious to see if anyone has applied and gotten accepted or if anyone knows anything about this program. Thank you in advance!

Its funny you say that but I got that same feeling through the application process. Maybe they don't have enough applicants that they make it so easy to get in. I guess the other Universities are more competitive because they are more inexpensive.

@Mursynursy1031 What route did you apply for? Are you going to start Jan 2022 with Nova?

Now I am hesitant just because of the  application process and what I hear from the interview process. But I honestly do not want to wait any longer to get started.

I’m a student now in my third semester for the psych NP Program. Nova wasn’t my first choice but the program started before others and I didn’t want to wait. I have to say so far so good. The first semesters are “core” courses that involve writing and research. Then patho and you move into Healh assessment and pharm. The coursework gets more demanding as you go.
This program is relatively new and you can tell sometimes, but they are figuring it out. I like it so far and feel like it is a good program.
Yes at the end of my interview I was accepted. Because it is a new program I don’t think there are as many applicants and they can accept the ones that apply and meet certain requirements. I’m assuming as the program gains popularity the tradition of being admitted in the interview will stop and it will become more competitive.

@annak92 Thank  you soooo  much for your feedback you made me feel better about the program. Nova is also my second choice but it is the one that starts sooner. I also applied for the psych NP Program as well. How has it been going with clinicals?  Any tips for the psych NP program.

Thanks a bunch!

@TinyTraumaRN I haven’t started clinicals yet, those start in the fifth semester. You have to find preceptors and sites yourself and they encourage you to have them set up two semesters in advance. It is very competitive finding sites, but the clinical coordinators work with you.
I don’t want you to think it’s the perfect program, but I don’t think it’s a diploma mill either. I’m learning and feel confident that after the program I’ll be able to pass the boards and practice with confidence. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@annak92 Thank you so much I am more excited now. Do you feel as if class was more on site or more online?  Lets see how my interview on Wednesday goes. Thanks again for the information its nice to hear from someone that's in the program.

I applied for January 22' but after the interview process I'm choosing FIU or FAU.

I didn't get an interview for FIU so I have no choice but to choose Nova. FAU if I am not mistaken is a certificate coorifice if you already have a masters so that one won't work for me. I wish you the best of luck.

FAU isn't just for certifications. You can start your MSN from scratch like any other school.

@Mursynursy1031 Maybe I am mistaken I thought it was a post masters for the Psych NP but you might be talking about the FNP program then you are correct its the full program my two workers are currently in it. I am going to call to get more information. Thanks again.

You're welcome and I wish you the best also.

I am considering applying for the pmhnp for next fall. I am curious how the online classes will work. Could you tell me what your schedule consists of? How and when the classes meet? Is it mostly online? How many times a week and from what hours do you have to meet in person? I need to work still during the program. I want to make sure it is doable here or if I should apply to an online only program. Would you say the teachers are helpful if help is needed?
