Nova BSN program for Jan 2011

Published

Hey guys,

Im applying to the jan bsn program and im just so nervous. I applied in June 2010 barely missed the deadline for august and just want to know if anyone has been accepted for January and what gpa did u guys have? Also how did they inform you and is the baptist program available for January? I have a 3.4 and im soo nervous I just want to be in already... I called last week and they told me that they would start sending out letters in October =/ Anyone in the same situation? or accepted? or rejected?

Thanks guys

Steph:)

Yeah, well keep me posted on your application process =] but If I dont get into Nova im applying to UM .. Im taking Nutrition just incase I dont get into Nova ill apply to UM.. Its always good to have a back up plan.

Hey! I have a question for boo13812002..I saw you said that UM is your back up plan and I was wondering how you were planning on paying for it if you got in. I would love to go there for nursing school, but cant even begin to imagine how I would pay for it.

well I was planning on getting student loans =] you should try speaking to someone in the financial aid dept maybe they can guide u in a better way.

boo and danwrome,

have you been accepted yet? i applied aug 16, and still waiting.

just fyi.....

sept 13th: i went to nova to make sure that a.o. has all of my documentation (2 letters of recomm, 3 transcripts, etc). thank god i checked, because my app was marked "incomplete." nova claimed they never received my fau transcript.

i freaked out! so basically, my application has been sitting there collecting dust since aug 16th :sniff: i returned to nova immediately the next day and handed the fau transcript to a.o. i am not taking chances of mailing or requesting anything online.

sept 15th - a.o. left a msg indicating that everything is now "complete" and it's being forward to the admissions for review. so make sure you guys check that everything is in, so that it wont hinder your admissions process!

i talked to ao when i was there...

1) she said about 500 applicants applied for winter 2011. when i applied for winter 2009, back then, it was about 250 applicants (and about 500 for fall term due to baptist scholarship). nova would pick 125 people to interview, then from there, select 100 to admit. that was the old way. now with 500 and 1,000 applicants, they got rid of interviews as of winter 2011.

2) i asked her why some people already received the acceptance letters so early. she said that those applicants with "high" gpa's are notified immediately. she wouldn't tell me what is considered "high". and those with the "not so high" gpa will all have to wait until october 1st for notification.

ie: my friend with 3.6 applied august 13, and was accepted 2 weeks later. i applied august 16 and still haven't heard anything. then again, i only haev 3.2 and my app was marked "incomplete". you would think they would notify you that it's incomplete, instead of letting it sit there. oh well.

so, good luck!

let me know when you get the good news!

hey Tiandmoe

Well I did get accepted about two weeks ago I just finished paying my acceptance fee and turning in my intent to enroll form. Now I applied on June 6,2010 and had to wait basically three months so I was waiting for a while. When I spoke to Ashley she told me first come first serve basis according to GPA. My gpa is a 3.41 and I have my AA plus I waited three months.. But one of my friends waited only three weeks and she has the same GPA? So honestly I do not know how they choose applicants; it can be pretty random.... But I do think It has to do with GPA...

Keep me posted on your progress, I hope you get in =] are you applying to kendall or davie?:nurse:

Hi congrats! what was your GPA, it didn't even take you 2 weeks to get your accepted letter.

ok so.....i have been searching for days and wasting gas, but i finally found the websites to order our scrubs and lab coat/jacket (just in case anyone else is getting the run around). scrubs: http://www.nsuuniformstore.com and for the lab coat: http://www.webmedbooks.com/nova/default2.aspx?id=1. i went to the uniforms for america (7051 w broward blvd, plantation, fl 33317.... 954-316-7051) to get my scrub bottoms b/c they have a buy 3 get 1 free special. if anyone is interested make sure to get "cherokee" brand in teal (tag says: 4101 tlbw). i went to the nsu bookstore to match the color and it is exact. they also have embroidering for the scrub top but it is cheaper to buy it online with nsu. hope this helps!!! yay for the jan.2011 sharks!!!!!!:lol2:

hey guys,

I scheduled my appt to have all the vaccines done. Now I have been trying to find the cheapest place cause I dont have health insurance and the health dept for miami dade has several clinics to have them done..

The prices for the health dept at miami dade according to the rep is:

Tetorifice: $34.00

Varicella: $95.08

Hepatitis A & B: $57.00

Rubella package: $61.74

Tuberculosis: $35.00

In total it comes out to be $282.00 ( under $300.00 which is def cheaper than some doctors offices and hospitals.

The number is (305)575-5401

Let me know if you guys have a cheaper place =]

By the way im ordering my uniform & Lab coat tomorrow * =]

woopp woop

go sharks!

do you have a copy of your vaccination records? b/c i believe you should've already had mmr(measles, mumps, rubella) to even start 1st grade. you should've already had hepatitis b too. so what you probably need is: tetorifice (td), hepatitis titer (to check if your body still has the antibodies needed to protect you, since you already have the vaccine), tuberculosis, and varicella (but if you've already had chicken pox, you need the varicella titer...to check if you are actually immune to it)..............but of course you should double check your vaccination records to make sure. i believe you can get them from your high school, doctor, or your parents might have a copy.

thanks =] your right
