Not sure if I want to become a LVN+ bad A&P grade+ HESI test= confused!

This is my first post, and hopefully..maybe, I can figure somethings out. Sorry if this is long.

I have worked in the medical field since I was 17 (22 now). Out of high school, told myself..I didn't want to be an RN. I went to school for Business. I started working at a State Hospital, and decided I wanted to become an LPN..I moved to a different state and now I am currently taking pre reqs for a LVN program.

My school pre req's are: Med Term, Intro to A & P, and Human Growth & Development.

I am currently in A&P, and Med Term..and was going to take HGD in the spring. But, I'm not doing so well in A & P and I am having second thoughts on even becoming an LVN. And, to be able to apply to the program I have to have taken and passed the HESI test (grammer, english, and math).

Do I just keep going, and get rejected, and switch my major again..? I really do like the medical field, and business. Is there something out there that I could do that I'm not thinking of? Everyone tells me don't become a Medical Assistant.

Maybe withdraw from your course and take a short break until the next term. Use that time to rest, regroup, work on your specific study technique problems for A&P, go over the A&P on your own, look at other options. The LPN license can be an important fallback if you decide to do something else. It can be a stepping stone to an RN program, should you change your mind about RN in the future. I would not step away from the program entirely unless something strikes you as being "it" in a clear, non arguable moment of clarity. You are allowed to change your mind about your career. The only real problems are those associated with how badly you need an income right away and whether or not you come up with an alternate path. Good luck.

A&P requires quite a bit of study time. I think at some point, just about every pre-nursing student questions what they are doing and why. I have done this several times myself, but I just know I'm going down the right path for me. It's hard and stressful and found myself crying a time or two! They make these classes hard, trying to weed out the ones who can't hack it. Just remember that you can do this...if you really want to! I just finished up micro, physiology, and retook another class to better my gpa. I'm waiting to see if I have been accepted into the nursing program I have been working so hard for. I have 3 boys and I work too, so study time was minimal for me but I got through. You can do it! Have you checked to see if your school offers tutors?

As for the HESI and the sections you are required to take...I found those to be the easiest. There is a HESI study guide (Evolve) that you can purchase. It's not the greatest but will get you through to do well. Just be glad you don't have to take the Chem or A&P sections.....the study guide is not helpful here!

Try your hardest, study, study, and study some more. If you really want this you will do it! Good luck to you. One more thing, you might chat with an academic advisor to see if there might be another avenue you haven't thought of.
