Not sure where to begin?

Published

Hi everyone. I have never joined a forum, so I am completely new to ALL of this, so please excuse my ignorance. :) I am trying to being taking my pre-requisites so that I can apply to nursing school A.S.A.P. I have a 5 month old son and my husband works non-stop (he's an Army Recruiter), and I am scared to death and stressed out. I need only Intro to Psych to apply (that is mandatory, I have the other two mandatory ones complete), but there are still A and P II, Microbiology, Human Lifespan and Development, and a Humanities/Fine Arts elective left to take. The college I am applying to allows you to take those classes while you are in the nursing program, but recommends to finish them first due to time constriction. Once you are accepted, you also have to take Pharmacology the semester before you can start. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions because daycare is expensive and I don't know how I can go full time just because of the daycare cost. I want to get in asap though?? Help?? Thanks a million...

Oh, by the way, I got an email from Military.com, they are about to allow soldiers to transfer their GI bill to dependents if they want to.

Actually, that law's been on the books since 2002...

Thank you everyone for the advice and help. I didn't know that a hospital would pay for your education if you agreed to work for them (contract) afterwards. I will look into that for sure! I live near the Texas Medical Center so there are many hospitals to call for that. I didn't know that you could use Financial Aid to help pay for child care. I was trying to find out about that one, so that saves me some time! I have already applied for the child care assistance through the military, and they told me that they would pay for some of it. The only problem I am having is that they told me that it takes a very long time to get it going and that it would not be here in time for the semester to start. I am also still waiting on my Financial Aid award status. I called today, they still don't have an answer yet.

As far as the GI Bill being transferred, my husband and I had asked about it before, and they said it has been transferrable for a few years, but only to children, not to spouses? I hate to hear that we got the wrong answer on that, it would have helped a while ago! Thank you all for your help on this issue! I am still working at trying to find a way to get this all taken care of by the time the semester starts in August! I may have to apply for private loans because 1st time borrowers of federal loans must be enrolled in school for at least 30 days after the start of the semester to receive a payment! At least that is the rule at the college I will be attending. :(
