Hi!!
What I did was volunteer. I decided I was interested in nursing. After volunteering I took a aide position. Working in a hospital gives you an idea, if your interested.
Keep in mind you'll more than likely start an off shift. I love off shift. But it's difficult getting babysitters/day care. If you have a offshift babysitter....GREAT!
Good luck with your decision!

Hi! I am new to this group...I am a single mother that is thinking about going to school to become a Labor and Delivery nurse. I was amazed by what everyone said about the nursing profession, but who would know better than those who are involved in it? I thought it would be one of the most rewarding jobs that anyone could have. I need a job that would allow me to support my child on my own, but I sure don't think that nursing is going to make me rich!
I have been doing research on the salary of nurses and found that although I am 24 years old, and do not have a degree (and work in the Interior Design field) I make just 25 cents/hour less than one of the women that gave her salary. I am really surprised that so many people would not recommend nursing as a career choice....
I was curious though, if nursing is a good career choice for single mothers?? I know that may seem to be a stupid question, but I am just weighing my options!
Thank you, y'all have a great day!!
