I never see job postings on the VA employment website - is it hard to get a position there?

Also, does anyone know if they hire new grads?

And what is their psych dept like?

Does anyone work for the VA at any other location on LI?

I too am wondering. It's sooo hard to get in anywhere these days. *sigh*

The VA is a government job, so they have to try to fill their positions internally first. Not just from within the hospital, anyone who works for the federal government can apply (well, in this case they'd have to be a nurse). If there are no suitable applicants, I believe they open it up to vets. And then anyone can apply. Good luck! I know some very nice people there. While it's not perfect, like I said, it's a government job with government benefits. Plus, the next time you're looking for a job, you can view all those internal postings.
