Northlake / El Centro Program Question

Published

This is for anyone who has been accepted into the northlake or even the el centro program.

I am just finishing Algebra and Psycology this semester. I will finish with a 4.0 in both. Then next semester I am taking English and A/P and hopefully will have a 4.0 in those as well.

Besides the prerequisites how many extra credits have people had who have been accepted? What was your GPA? If many more credits are needed which ones besides the prerequisites shouls I take?

I worry that I need to have a ton of credits since that is a tie breaker if I have the same GPA as many others for the prereq's

I am going to college for the 1st time at 28 so the only credits I have will be these prerequisites.

Thanks

Jeremy

Since they have added the HPRS class I believe they did not have as many applicants. They are accepting late applications for Spring 2008 at both of those schools. Probably for the next few semesters they will have low application rate because of the HPRS class.

I hope so :D I should have all my prereqs done by the end of Summer 1... I need College algebra (the only prereq Im taking in Summer 1) so I might have to add one more class to the schedule and switch out of my 2nd psych class.

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

Hey Jeremy,

What Billie said is right -- they've been accepting people with lower GPAs, so if you have a 4.0, you *should* be OK.

If you are taking classes in the Spring, are you planning to go for the application that is due during the summer for Spring 09 admission? If so, you could take a class during the first summer session that would count in you admission application. If I remember correctly, the second summer session doesn't finish in time to count for application purposes.

For those 'just in case' things, you know? Plus, I would suggest having as much as possible out of the way before you start the program. The program is hard enough (for me) without having to worry about additional classes.

Just an idea :)

Thanks for the note JaxiaKiley.

Yes, I am shooting for Spring09 to start. I should have prereq's, CPR class, and HESI test done by end of Summer 1 and then I can apply. While I wait to either get in or start, I will take classes in Summer 2 and Fall08 to have as much done before I start...if I do get in for Spring09.

Specializes in none.

Hey, you sound like me - all except for the 4.0 :icon_rollI'm hoping to start(accepted) in Spring 09. I'm currently taking Math 1314 and retaking SCIT 1407 for a better grade. Plan to take HPRS 1204 in Maymester and then HESI and CPR and apply before July 31, 2008 - the cut off for late registration into the Fall 08 program. Maybe I'll have a better chance of getting in if I apply early - either late entry to Fall 08 or Spring 09. Just hope my finances are in order by the start - whichever comes first.

If I'm not accepted into Fall 08, I'll take Micro and then be totally done and ready for Spring 09.
