I'm applying for a job at Northern Arizona Healthcare. Has anyone here had any experience with the hospital, or the Flagstaff area?

Flagstaff has a fairly high cost of living, more than Phoenix or Tucson. It has one of only two ski resorts in AZ. It is quite cold there in the winter, it definitely has 4 seasons. It is a college town with NAU being located there. I think you would definitely need a car - and I would make it a 4 wheel drive so you can drive in the snow and ice.

The hospital there was trying to go union - but I think the process is hung up in court somewhere. AZ is "right to work" state with very few union facilities. I believe it is the only hospital in town so you are going to somewhat lock yourself into the same facility if you move there.

I think the work conditions are fairly decent at the hospital. If you are negotiating a deal, hurry. Their sister hospital in a rural area already has a hiring freeze in effect.
