North Shore LIJ ED/NICU/PICU Fellowship 2013

U.S.A. New York

Hello Everyone!

I have recently interviewed for the ED/NICU/PICU Fellowship at NSLIJ and I wanted to get some feedback about the program from past or recent nurses in the same program. Also, it would be nice to connect to other applicants out there who are going through the process!

How did your interview go? They told me they only pick 10 candidates so let's keep our fingers crossed!! Sounds like an amazing experience and I'm so grateful to had the chance to interview.

Good luck and keep me posted!

I'm really interested in this program. I applied but never heard back from anybody? I got a bsn, graduated with a 4.0, was the secretary of my SNA chapter, graduated on april 16, passed my boards on may 16 in 75 questions, was a winner of a scholarship, already have bls, ascles, and pals, but they still have not contacted me. Do I need to go volunteer or something. I thought my resume looked really attractive, am i missing something?

Nessa0387, I hate to be the one to tell you but i wouldn't expect any phone call with a associates. I was at a job fair and overheard a recruiter from mount sinai tell a ad nurse that she may as well flush her degree down the toilet BC its useless. I don't mean to be mean but I think you need to stop deluding yourself that you will even get a interview for this fellowship or for any hospital located in the metro NY or long island area. Unless your parents own a hospital you aren't get a job in a hospital. Whatever sugar coated lies people told you about getting a Job In NY with a associates is a lie. BSN new grads can barely get a job. Do yourself a big favor and smell reality. Enroll in a very good RN to BSN program and not some crappy online one and get your bachelors. I honestly am not saying it to be mean or rude but I feel like someone needs to tell you the truth.

So I had responded to this by saying that I refuse to be negative about being an associate degree new grad nurse and I knew it would be difficult to find a job but I was not going to give up. Well after two months of applying and no calls, I got an interview and was hired in NYC hospital in their NICU! It is my dream job!! I just want to let other AD new grads know that your degree is not a waste. It may be difficult to find a job and it may take some time to hear back from positions you applied to but don't get discouraged and definitely don't let other people bring you down. To all those who applied to this fellowship try to stay positive but if it doesn't work out keep applying to other openings. Someone will call you!

So happy for you !!!! Congrats !!!!!

What documents did you guys attach to the application? Did you include transcripts?

I applied on the North Shore LIJ website. I was watching it like a hawk and as soon as it went up I applied. It's down now, but they will have other ones coming in the fall I think. So keep an eye on the website! Search for any new grad positions and opportunity because sometimes it is posted as fellowship or new grad opportunity. Good luck!

Congratulations!!! Do you like the fellowship?
