North Palm College of Nursing - LPN to RN Online

What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing accreditation for nursing programs, specifically in California. Some members are sharing information about RN-to-BSN programs that accept graduates from non-accredited ASN programs. There is also discussion about the process of obtaining RN licenses in California and transferring from out-of-state programs. Additionally, members are forming support groups and seeking information about class schedules and program outcomes, such as passing the NCLEX exam.

I'm looking for opinions of anyone who has attended, currently attends, or has been accepted to the online LPN to RN program at North Palm College of Nursing.

What are the online lectures like? Are there live or recorded video lectures? It's my understanding clinical are local to the college. How often do you attend clinicals? Can you please share any pros and cons about the program?

I have applied and recently excepted into program at North Palm college. Speaking with the admissions representative was an OK experience. I just haven't been able to find any reviews from actually students who attend. I was informed that the school program is fairly new maybe 15 months or so. It seems as if it will be a lot of self instruction, filming yourself doing skills then a proctored exams. Once you're done with the coarse work you'll have to go out to the school for hands on instruction. When taking the NCLEX you'll apply for a FL license  which is a compact license and can apply for  multi state license.

I'm currently in the program. It's basically self taught. They are slow with grading as well. It's all about writing essays APA format.

Would you say it's pretty easy overall? How many hours a week are you spending on it?

When did you start?

Did you have a really long admission process? I applied in mid June, and still don't have any info from admissions about my transcript review. Every time I call they just say its still pending and they are super busy.

Thanks!

It's very much time consuming. It's 2 classes per block. So it's 4 papers per week for 10 weeks. And they don't worth much it's only 30% of your grade. Midterm is also 30% and the final is 40%. Then the labs take 2-3 hours to be completed. I just stated June 2.  And no I didn't have a long admission I applied 2 weeks before. It's was 100 students. We all have the same concerns about their accreditation.  I believe they are super busy because I'm finish w my classes and it's not graded.
personally I don't trust it. I don't feel comfortable to invest all that money and have problems later.

I wouldn't say it's super easy either. They are hard graders for the papers that doesn't worth much.

Are the labs 2 or 3 hours per week? Or 2 or 3 hours per class?

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like the exams are the bulk of the grade. Are they just HESI tests? Or do you have to read the books and watch the videos?

Really appreciate the information and help!!

Yeah I'm worried about the accreditation too. I'm hoping that sorts out. But for my needs I think it will do.

@FNPDC I'm a current student here at North Palm and so far for me It's been great. It's a self-paced program that I am able to work full-time and attend class. You will have reading lectures quizzes and writing assignments that are APA format and yes, your homework counts for 30% of your grade. The midterm is 30% and the final is 40%. You do take two classes at a time which are 10 weeks long you also have labs to complete which are through shadow health. Overall, it's not bad and every school has their ups and downs yeah sometimes grading does take a little bit however you're still able to move on within your courses. As far as it being easy, you do have to study so that you're passing your test but the good thing is there's no deadline you work at your own pace at the end of the program you will go out to Florida and complete your clinical hours, which are 300 hours of in person. Before you go to Clinical, you will go to the school and have two days of skills to be checked off and that the very end of the program you do take a NCLEX  class and must pass the HESI exit exam. All exams are proctored. And yes, it is a new school and they are in the process of becoming accredited. Eventually, they will have a LPN program and a BSN program.

Was going to but haven't heard since I applied on June. I'm told to keep waiting. Have you heard from them re acceptance and transcript analysis?

I talked to my advisor today and sent my application for the loan, they said it will take probably a week or two for the application process.

How is testing done? Is it proctored? If so is a proctor provided?

@RNfairy Yes all exams are proctored and the school covers it and it's provided
