Hi all!
My husband's job may be taking us to North AL. I'm a prenursing student looking at applying at Muscle Shoals CC or Calhoun (?) CC, so employment opportunities for me are about 2 years down the road. That said, I haven't seen much on this forum about the Shoals-Decatur-Huntsville area. I'd love to know how the nursing market is up there. Here in Miami it's saturated beyond belief and my lack of any second language makes it even more so challenging.
I'd love any info/advice anyone has to offer!
(Forgive any mistakes, I'm typing on my phone.)

Huntsville Hospital is a great place to work. I went to Calhoun and was hired as new grad in CCU at Hsv Hospital. It is best if you try to get a tech job there while in nursing school, as those units typically will hire you after you graduate. Huntsville is somewhat saturated, but you can find something if you try and put for extra effort to make yourself stand out. Huntsville Hosp is the largest hospital in the area, so you will have more options there. Crestwood and Decatur are smaller hospitals, pay is usually a little less, and job openings are fewer.

I was wondering about this as well, since I am getting close to starting nursing school and plan on leaving my current job after graduation. Cedeno, I currently am a student at Calhoun and I have heard nothing but great things about their program. They have a good NCLEX pass rate as well. I just attended a seminar last month about their program and we were told that most all of their graduates are placed in jobs that are actively looking. I have lived both in the Shoals and in the Huntsville area and love Huntsville because of the many things to do here.It is big enough to have a lot of great things to offer but still retains the "small town" feel. Good luck! Maybe we will be in the same admit class! Thanks Tilly1399 for your insight as well! :)
