  1. Vanderbilt and Centennial pay pretty good. Centennial is part of HCA, Vanderbilt is obviously the teaching facility. Pay can vary based on speciality, but with 13 yrs, expect around $27-29/hr. Good Schools/areas are Brentwood and Franklin mostly. If you don't mind a 30min drive, Murfreesboro is a smaller town, with good schools in the Blackman district.
  2. Huntsville Hospital is a great place to work. I went to Calhoun and was hired as new grad in CCU at Hsv Hospital. It is best if you try to get a tech job there while in nursing school, as those units typically will hire you after you graduate. Huntsville is somewhat saturated, but you can find something if you try and put for extra effort to make yourself stand out. Huntsville Hosp is the largest hospital in the area, so you will have more options there. Crestwood and Decatur are smaller hospitals, pay is usually a little less, and job openings are fewer.
  3. thanks everyone!! Very helpful!! Fiona59-thanks for your support/concern :). I have some really good friends in Toronto so that's why I'm looking at there. I did do travel nursing in us for 4 years...just want to see the world now!
  4. Hello all, I am an ICU (CCU/MICU) nurse with 10years experience in facilities ranging from small community, to large teaching hospitals in the US. I am getting a divorce and just want to get a fresh start somewhere. I love Toronto and alberta...can anyone give me advice on what the process to get there would be? Any recommendations on hospitals...what Canada's healthcare system is like...pay range...where to live :) Thanks!!! Katie
