Nursing school is the hardest thing I've ever done, and having a full-time job as a CNA doesn't make it any easier. Neither does having two young children.
I'm approaching middle age. I have a bachelor of arts degree under my belt which was a lot of fun to get, and a lot of hard work, but never earned me a nickle.
You know, my father never got a second chance at a career choice. Most people probably never do. They never got the second chance to pursue the dream of finding and doing something they love, and providing better for their families.
So when you come down to it, I'm chasing my dreams, which is tough--but I can't think of a place I'd rather be. I'm pretty darn lucky.
So cheers, here's to second chances.

I've thought the same thing myself, many times. I'm very lucky to have had the opportunity at age 29 to go back to school, this time for something I actually want to do. I was pushed into a 4-year college right out of high school, wasn't happy there, and got a liberal arts degree that only lead me to corporate desk jobs that I was unhappy with. Heck I'm lucky that when I was laid off at the start of the recession that I had the money saved to go to NS, and even luckier that I had enough so that I wouldn't be homeless or in debt (like so many others found themselves, in the recession). Much of life is due to luck, I'm glad for what I have.

I'm glad you're positive about it. Someone needs to be. :)
