After 8 years of working in the nursing field I'm considering a career change. My ideal job would be to return for a second master's degree as a Pathologists Assistant but that is another 2 years of education, certification and student loans. Not to mention state relocation.
Until I achieve that dream, what kind of jobs would a FNP be able to do that is non-clinical and deals more with science than patient interaction? I thought about working as a medical writer. However, those jobs are not bountiful. All the research jobs want and pay for RN level certification.
I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

My sister in law is an internal medicine physician and she reviews medical charts from home. And, she makes a 6-figure income. I'm not sure what company she works for but she says they hire nurse practitioners.

You could look into Nurse research positions. I shadowed with two nurse researchers and it was mostly non-clinical. Depending on the study it may require a blood sugar or obtaining a urine specimen for instance and sending to path but mostly you are obtaining consents and explaining study to potential participants..
Ahh read your post again.. So pay is RN level., I never knew their salary but this was my guess as well despite being Masters prepared..
