Noc shifters

Published

Do you find it better to do 3 in a row or do you like to split your shifts up? I survived my first 2 overnights, back to back. Most of the staff asks for 3 in a row, but I am not sure I could hande that. By 3am last night I was crashing hard. I think I needed tonight to recuperate before going back.

So what do you normally prefer to work? I am hoping with time my body will adjust to this. And I ahve to laugh at the people who say all the patients will be sleeping. If you didn't know any better, you wouldn't have even known it was night. The patients were WIDE awake last night, more awake than I was that is for sure!

I do two 12's in a row weekend program. Then Sunday, monday, tues I work 12-8a. My weekends suck because I work 12a -12noon. It doable but I think it's better to do it all in a row so you can have some time to yourself. I'm not functional until thurs, fri, but at least it's two day s in a row. Good luck to you.
