No worker left behind???

Published

hello all :specs:

i wanted to know has anyone on here gone through the no worker left behind program. i am exploring all of my options & this program came across, but i have heard so many mixed reviews. i am planning on going to one of the information meetings next week. if anyone has been through the program or know someone that has can u please elaborate on how long the process takes & what they require of you. my program starts in may, not alot of time i know & it's only a one year accelerated bsn program. i really don't have time to waist or spare starting in may i am in class from 8-5 (m-f). if u can suggest a specific location to attend that is known for their quick funding please lmk.

thanks & god bless :heartbeat

hmmm...it does not say that on the website and I called Michigan Works to find out if I need to update my file and they did not mention it. Is the freeze for all applicants or just new ones? I was approved in August but I am just waiting to be accepted in a program.

I've been waiting for the "No Worker Left Behind" voucher since July. I was accepted into the nursing program in August. My school didn't fill out the ITA cost plan in time, therefore my case manger said that I would have 2 use my grant for next semester. I'm still waiting on my voucher and it is November. I called my case manager yesterday because next semester will be starting soon and she said that there was a freeze. My case manager is located in Port Huron. She said that since my school didn't do what they were suppose 2 do on time, that I still can get the grant, but since there is a freeze I would have 2 wait and that I am high on the waiting list. I called my school FA dept yesterday because they calculated my No worker Left Behind grant into my tuition, and the FA advisor told me that I was ok because my financial aid and student loans covered my tuition w/o the No worker Left Behind grant. So my advice 2 u is 2 ask your case manager, because mine did tell me that there was a freeze....

That sucks.:crying2: My case worker has yet to email me back on any question I have and the Michigan Works says I have to go through them, so I am guessing that is their way of telling me about the freeze.

Has anyone heard anything yet? I've given up hope already on this BS program.

I met with a NWLB case worker a couple weeks ago, the program is out of funds. It might be refunded, but nothing is definite

I hope that the state will find room in their budget for this program but I wouldnt hold my breath. I think we are going to be in worse shape financially next year than we are now. All the stimulus money will be gone and the tax base is shrinking. Infact I have heard that tax increases may be on the horizon for us.

They just gave you another excuse to leave MI.
