No weekend nsg jobs- any ideas?

Nurses General Nursing

Hey everyone,

I graduated from nsg school about a year ago and have been working in a rehab hospital. Although I LOVE complex medical (floor) nursing, my family is just not adjusting to the weekends...and quite frankly, neither am I. I appreciate that nursing has limitless possibilities and that it often offers a flexible work schedule, but I guess as a student I never acknowledged the fact that weekends/holidays would have to be sacrificed. I really need to find a job that has few/ no weekends. Any ideas?

All of our clinic nurses are M-F (or less). Most private practice offices use MAs but a lot of University clinics use RNs especially if they have a infusion center or other procedural area attached. Where I worked previously, the endoscopy center nurses (outpatient endoscopy center) worked M-F.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the input.

PACU in outpt surgery. That's what I do. Days only, no weekends, no calls, and pay is great, better then when I was a critical care nurse at bedside.

i've found that it's hard to make any money unless you work nights and weekends for big overtime, etc. on a decent week now i'm busting 4k, which has changed my view on nursing altogether. my goal has become working 40 weeks a year to make 150k. and i'm nothing more than a med surge/tele nurse, nor will i ever try to be.

unfortunately, supply and demand dictate that no weekends means no money.

of course, we're talking floor nursing. combine nursing with another degree, etc.. such as an accounting degree, and you can make 100k on a M-F workweek. there are all sorts of niches out there...

so the $$ and the work are there, you have to be creative enough to find them.
