No one's hiring LVN's these days

I spoke to the teacher at the local community college today in Orange County and she said no one is hiring LVN's these days, especially not in hospitals. She said the LVN's we see at hospitals are students, not employee's. Are any LVN's working in hospitals?

Also, for the LVN's in southern CA, especially Orange County, what did you make your first year?

If the shifts are 12 hour shifts, then we are paid 8 straight hours and 4 hours of OT. 3 days on equals 36 hours. Do they allow overtime on the 4th day? If we want OT can you get it easily to make more money?

Also, is the shift differential standard everywhere you go?

I graduated in April and took boards in July. I received my official license 2 weeks ago. My first set of results either never got mailed out or lost somehow. so I had to wait forever. I haven't worked as an LVN yet. I have been a vet tech for 12 yrs, so I worked at the vet hospital until Oct. 1st and then moved down here with my boyfriend of a year. Now just trying to find employment and RN programs.

Good luck with an RN program. There are plenty of CC out here with programs that are affordable. Where abouts in the OC are ya?

Yes. I love when I get Peds cases. Most of my cases now are adult and geriatric though. Kids heal fast. We just picked up CHOC's referrals. The Peds cases are expected to shoot through the roof!

No I dont... the 15 post thing makes sense. They hired me as a new grad. I didnt think anyone would. But they did.
