hi guys i graduated last 2006 in the Philippines, work as OR nurse from may 2007-apr 2008, and quit bec. of personal reason, and then go here in the US last mar2009, and took NCLEX RN sept. and thank GOD i pass.:yeah:still now looking for a job, im looking any job. im frustrated :obec. is it really hard to find a job, any advice guys what and where to apply? i called SNF too and still no luck..
you might need to move to a smaller town and start out in a community hospital. come to southwest florida. most hospitals take new grads and put them in 6months or so internship! you can get in so easily as long as you can prove your education and residency status. i am actually thinking of moving to CA for some personal reasons..looking at the available jobs in the website of most hospitals, they are mostly looking for specialty nurses with at least 1-2yrs experience--critical care, dialysis, ER.
i have a friend who moved there a couple of months ago, it took her more than a month to get a job... to think that she had 3years prior experience in an acute care setting here in FL. she didn't even get the job she really wanted, not even the place where she wanted to move to.. just for the sake of having a job... having said that, i think it really is tough to get an RN job in cali... not to mention a new grad..
good luck to you though! if there's a will, there's a way!
thanks
Hey I'm on the same boat as you. I graduated in the philippines 2007,moved in the US(CALIFORNIA) aug 2009,passed my ncLEX NOV 2009 and currently looking for a job. It's hard to look for one since they require experience.I've been a clinical instructor for a year in the philippines so I don't know if it counts as experience. Right now,I'm thinking of volunteering on a nearby hospital at my place just so I gain experience,.

Clinical Instructors and volunteering don't count as experience because you've never worked as a floor nurse. It's really scary that they allow fresh new RN Clinical Instructors in the Philippines when they don't have floor experience. In order for you to have your experience counted it must be paid experience. Right now most new grad positions have closed their application process because they're gearing up towards the new class. What you might try to do is to get yourself into a refresher course or if you can find a JC/CC that offers something like critical care nurse (again, they may require floor experience) classes, you can get started on that. Look on the CA BRN website and you can find plenty of JC/CC and schools that offer CEU's, then search their websites. Hope this helps. Good Luck
It's sort of an interesting situation here in CA because of the large number of Filipino nurses who came to CA looking for high-paying nursing salaries have been really hurt by the economy.
It's really a sad sad situation because what's put into their heads is that coming to the US and "Living the American Dream" (what ever that may be) is going to solve their problems. That country really is in such a mess and what they're doing to their citizens is even worse. They have cornfields of nursing schools that admits anybody that can pay the tuition. Their nursing schools aren't regulated so even the under performing schools will stay open and graduate new nurses who will be far behind if allowed to work abroad. Their clinical instructors are fresh grads themselves who have ZERO experience as a floor nurse. It's not their fault because they are unsuspecting people just trying to better themselves. Not all the schools are like this, they still have some excellent nursing schools there. The Philippines also have LVN/LPN schools and the students are told they can migrate to the US and work as a LVN/LPN when in reality there are no work visas for LVN/LPN, and what's even sadder is that they can't get licensed to work as a LVN/LPN because it's NOT recognized in their own country. They are taken advantage of, and families are making huge sacrafices in order to send them to school for an education that's worthless in their own country, and can't be used abroad either. I read somewhere on this board that there were over 800,000 unemployed new nurses give or take a few thousand. It's sad because there are no jobs at home, and there are no jobs here. Everyone just needs to keep their fingers crossed and also take some courses in order to keep up in the trend of nursing until a job does come up. Good Luck to everyone

What a great summation. I didn't even consider that LVNs aren't recognized over there.
800K nurses out of work? my goodness. Some california economists are projecting the the hire rate will go up in the first quarter of next year. Hopefully it does.
I'm sorry I think it was 800,000 newly licensed RN's, that doesn't include those who have graduated and have failed the exam and are still unlicensed. I read somewhere also on this board where one school had 500 who had graduated, and only 20 of them passed the NLE, which is even scarier.
