No. I am under no agency. Actually I am directly hired.I WAS under Omanfil before and had an offer from Kings College NHS Trust but I was lined up for a Cardiac Nurse role. The interviewer told me I would be placed in a Cardiothoracic ward or something. They never mentioned which hospital under Kings NHS trust I would be assigned to. I didn't really get any clear information on my job offer. Ofil never even sent me an offer letter to sign. I just didn't like how everything was going through with Ofil so I did what I felt was right - to do things without the assistance of any agency or recruiter.
I worked my way through online sites like the NHS jobs website. Being a cath lab RN, I looked for cath lab vacancies, as it is definitely the specialty I ultimately wanted to pursue and continue. I found a few trusts within London and submitted a few applications. Few days later I got emails from different London trusts inviting me for a Skype interview. I did 4 interviews with 4 different trusts and luckily were successful. I got offers from St. George's Hospital NHS Trust, Guys and St Thomas NHS Trust, Barts Health NHS trust and some other trust at the outskirts of London. With 4 trusts offering the job, I was really confused! I ended up choosing Barts - St. Bartholomews/Barts Heart Centre knowing that Barts Heart Centre is a new Cardiac centre recently opened last 2015 and aims to be the best in offering Cardiac services in London.
Whoah that was a long story. Sorry for the too much chitchat. Hehe. This is not to brag but I am just saying that you really can work your way yourself through online applications especially at the NHS jobs website. Just a few exchange of emails and definitely you will get that invitation for interview and that job offer for a role/position you really desire.
Nevertheless, being with an agency has its benefits and drawbacks. (Sorry for the very long post)
Hi John, I am also currently with Omanfil and I signed and emailed them back the kings offer letter. However I am also thinking to apply on my own. Presently i am in the mid East. I thought of getting a tourist visa and apply personally in any of the NHS trust. I've visited the UK thrice and it is indeed a amazing place. Thank you for sharing your application story. But to tell you st. Thomas and Guy hospital is presently on the 2nd spot on the top performing hospitals in the UK. I just read it online. But I guess almost everyone here is going with Bart's. Wherever we will be, hopin the best for everyone. Good luck and cheers!

Hi. Omanfil never sent me any offer letter from Kings. And I didn't like the post they lined me up for. I specifically wanted a Cardiac Cath Lab nurse position and what better place to expand my cardiology skills than at a cardiac centre. So that's how I ended up choosing Barts Heart Centre. Well I guess it doesn't really matter which trust to work for..we're all under the NHS. Unless you wanna work private..they pay more.
