NMC delay and put on queue this 2013. waiting for decision letter

Published

Since nmc put on hold all the papers and resume this year, is there anyone who was put on queue this 2013 and received the decision letter? I would like to know if 90 days waiting period really followed. Its really frustrating knowing that it only took 1 month before to process this. Please share your experiences. Thanks!

Are you aware that part of the application process with the NMC includes them doing their own investigations with other boards. They will process your application but continue investigating and if they have found you have withheld information they will strike you off the register??

hi.. i also worked in saudi arabia as a rn but haven't included it on my application. my friend who works here advised me not to because they will need another form aside from prc which is the saudi council which may delay your application. so i strongly suggest not to do it unless your experience only comprises it from saudi arabia. i just included my experience from the philippines. so hopefully yours will be sorted out soon... goodluck.

You do know that the NMC are currently investigating this for all OS nurses and if you are found to have withheld information on your application you would be struck off the register.

Hi Rabinski, I also am processing my NMC application while working here in Saudi. I received my pack 1 and pack 2 on January and March this year, respectively. Actually, I am waiting for the Decision Letter for their agent told me last week that the forms for the full application pack were scanned and now on my file since 12th of May. Regarding your problem (hope this reply is not too late), I think they are asking for your Professional Accreditation Certificate, which is the same as our Board Certificate in the Philippines from the PRC. As a part of the Pack 1, you must photocopy it and have it translated because it is in Arabic.

Hello Taglive, that is the very reason why even if I have the option to present only my RN practice in the Philippines, I chose to include my experience here in Saudi. I heard a lot about stories of struggles to accomplish papers here especially with the SCFHS, known as the Saudi Council, but the process went fine for me. Thank God.

Hello. I've read your comment and I am glad you mention about your experience in the community. Did u get your decision letter? I am here in UK and working as an HCA. I am a registered nurse in Philippines but my experience is also in the community. I took IELTS exam before. I think my scores will improve if I will review and practice. I am inspired now to apply for ONP.

@sky56 I have some questions about your application since my experience is also in community. I have fear of getting rejected as I thought that only hospital experience is accepted. Please pm me. You will truly be a great help. Thanks a lot

Hello everyone,

Brief intro: I am a 24yo Filipino guy currently living in UK under student visa and working as an HCA.

I just want to share my ordeal before I received my NMC Decision Letter. I passed the IELTS last February 2, 2013. Apparently, the NMC had undertaken a review for their overseas nurse registration so I was idle for around 2 months. I lodged my application first week of April 2013. I received the first pack on first week of April. My first pack went fine with the NMC. I received the second pack after three weeks which needs to be send to my home country(Philippines) for my professional registration and references/employment details. The board of nursing in my country had sent the form a day after they received(I had to asked a family friend who works there to expedite this process) and same as the references. I had phoned the NMC as I was tracking the parcel. I had been notified by the courier that the parcel had been received. When I phoned them, they said that it might took 7-10 working days before it can be scanned and put into the system and might take one to three months for a decision to be made(gutted on that one). But I was not in rush that time as I still have plenty of time before my visa expire. I had waited patiently.

I received a sealed envelop with the NMC stamp at the front. I was ecstatic that time thinking 'finally! I had received my decision letter'. I was very happy because the ONP would start by October in my current university. When I opened, it felt like the moon had fell down on my head. haha! They are asking for another OS1 form to be filled by my reference. I had phoned them to ask for the reason. When I was on the phone I asked if I could come over! I went into the NMC Office in London, waited for about 2 hours to be catered. I had spoke with an Indian-looking guy and explained to me that my reference had just put 'Training Supervisor' and didn't stated if she was a nurse or not. I told them, "I reckon I am applying to gain a registration to become a nurse not to be an architect. So maybe we could use a bit of common sense that my training supervisor is obviously a NURSE as she was the one who trained me to be a NURSE!" That may sound a bit rude but I am not sorry as this is about my future. I presented a reference letter with my training supervisor's name with and "RN" on it and her signature and ask them if it will do. He had accepted it and say just wait for the decision.

Thinking that the decision I am waiting for was the proper 'NMC Decision Letter', I opened the letter I received after two weeks. But blimey! They are asking again for another reference. I had to phone them again and ask. The reason that time was that the reference should be of a senior position! That made me more furious. I told them that the training supervisor is higher that the head nurses in the Philippines. But they didn't care at all and just wanted to me to have it filled.I just sent to the PH and ask my mum to ask the asst chief nurse to have it filled.

It was second week of November when they received the reference form. That time I had bombarded them everyday with phone call and nag at them that 'it's been long overdue' and I need the letter soon. I received my decision letter 3rd of December 2013. Finally! YAY!

I am starting my ONP this 5th of June and already had a Certificate of Sponsorship to convert my Visa into working visa.

Advice for those starting or still in the nick of processing theirs:

1. Double-triple-quadruply check the spellings, dates and all the details the NMC are asking.

2. Get into the the NMC's nerves in following-up your decision letter. :-)

3. Be honest and truthful with the details you provide them.

4. Be patient.

Happy waiting to all! Good luck to all of us future UK-RN's!!!

I see how you emerged victorious despite the struggles and congratulations for you are now on your way to becoming a registered nurse there in the UK. I hope mine would be fine for it is the decision letter that I am waiting for to keep the ball rolling. I can't afford to re-accomplish those requirements because like you, I am working overseas as well. By the way, thanks for sharing your story.

I see that you are in Riyadh and that is more convenient for you then. Anyway, regarding your question, I just approached their information desk where you can find a guard or two who issue a number for the queue, which is very short if you go there early at around 0730H based from my experience for I went there twice to forward the form to SCFHS and to send the document back to the UK. So after a short while I was entertained by the receptionist and I gave them a copy of my Saudi RN License (it would be better if you could have copies of your documents from your school, PRC and SCFHS as they do not have a photocopier there just to be sure) and paid using a debit card as they do not accept cash there. Then they will ask for your mobile number in order for them to get in touch with you once the verification form is ready for pick up.

A week after (although I was not able to answer their call), I went back to the SCFHS Main Office there in Riyadh and on that same reception I waited for my turn and they asked me to enter their office to check the accomplished form. When I was certain that all of the information needed were properly supplied, I gave them a go so a staff there sealed it in an envelope and stamped it. After which, they advised me to proceed to a certain office (I'm sorry for I forgot the name of the office, I can't remember if it is the Marketing Office) on the same floor, after the examination area, then turn left, to ask for the courier service. The guy there asked me to go to the Finance Dept (located on the second floor) immediately and once more paid less than SAR 200.00 for the courier fee, again using a debit card, and I then went back to him to fill out the form indicating the recipient's address, that is the NMC UK.

If I were you, copy the tracking number yourself as they gave me a wrong tracking number. And that's it, just wait for a few days and you may start checking the status of your document online on Aramex website. Hope it helps.
