NMC application - Stamps?

Published

Hey, I'm wondering if anyone has applied to the NMC in the UK and if you ran into the same issue I am.

A few of the documents need stamps... My references do not have stamps. It says if you don't have a stamp, to state that and give a signature on letter headed paper. HR is not going to just give out letter headed paper. I'm not sure what to do. Am I over thinking it? Has anyone else submitted their reference forms without them being stamped by the person who filled it out?

It was a long time ago, but UKCC (as they were known then) were a lot more interested in having letters sent directly to them and the primary focus appeared to be establishing good character by those who knew you well. Nothing about letterheads were mentioned, nor did they need to be from those who knew you at work. I think they can verify references by other means if needed but you can always ask them.

That said, I would assume most of your references are professional. They all work for a facility? HR is not the only facility dept with access to stationary. Any manager would have them. Explain your need, identify your referee and ask permission (or have your referee do so) . If the manager wants a copy of the letter, arrange for them to get it.

If for some reason that is politically impossible, transferring a letterhead from an existing letter or online download to new stationary is trivial. Do so only if your referee is allowed to provide such a reference. Alternatively, simply have your referee copy their facility ID and attach it to the letter.
